Our Values

Our values guide our relationships with donors, partner organizations and the children and youth. They represent the standard by which all Canodia activities are measured. We have five core values.

1. We value the children and youth we serve.

  • We serve children of all ages, regardless of their gender, race, religion and economic status.
  • We provide unconditional love to the children and youth, supporting their basic needs without any conditions.
  • We listen to the needs of the children and youth and respect their opinion and views.
  • We expect children to treat others with respect and honesty. We expect them to contribute in our efforts to better their lives.

2. We value local partnerships based on respect, trust and reciprocity.

  • We establish long term and close relationships with our local partners and work together for help those in need.
  • We work on the ground with our partner organizations and personally understand its people, mission, programs and children. We know them by name.
  • We share our talents, gifts and vocation with our local partners to strengthen them and help them achieve their goals.
  • We expect our partners to be great stewards of our people, time and resources that are offered.

3. We value high personal standards of ethics.

  • All our people work with high personal standards in all our interactions.
  • We expect that our partners act with the same high level of personal standards.
  • We teach and demonstrate these ethical values to the children and youth with serve.
High personal standards

a. Treat people equally regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, economic status or political affiliation.
b. Always be honest in all your relationships.
c. Always be kind to everyone regardless of time, place, person, or circumstances.
d. Always be generous and unselfish with everyone you associate with.
e. Act with courage and do the right thing, even in the face of opposition.
f. Act with humility knowing that we are serving others, before ourselves.
g. Always be cheerful and optimistic no matter what circumstances you find yourself in.
h. Never slander another person.
i. Act and speak with integrity. Do what you say you are going to do.
j. Speak with sincerity and empathy for people.

4. We value responsible stewardship of resources entrusted to us.

  • We are accountable to our donors to ensure that funds are expended in the most efficient and effective manner, as directed, to make a positive impact on the children and youth.
  • We are responsible to partners and the children and youth to fundraise and grant funds to specific areas that are in the best interest of the children.
  • Our partners are responsible to use the money as directed, have adequate reporting and support for their use.

5. We value quality programs that create lasting change for children and youth.

  • We want to change lives 100% for the better and we want each child and youth to have the chance to realize their full potential. We work with our partners for lasting change.
  • Our projects and programs serve beyond the provision of basic needs. We work towards advancing education, developing skills and creating opportunity for a better life.

Canodia is inspired by ten principles:

1. We serve the needs of the children first and always act in their best interest. We must always focus on what is best for the children and youth.
2. We know that every child, youth and person has goodness within. We are one human race.
3. We work to ensure that every child deserves a safe place to live, nutritious food to eat, an opportunity for education and an abundance of love to share.
4. We know that we are all responsible to take care of one another and the Earth where we live.
5. We believe that each person has the opportunity for greatness, because everyone has the ability to serve, regardless of circumstance.
6. We advocate that the voice of each child is heard loud and clear. We speak out on behalf of children, youth and their families to reduce disadvantage, enhance their lives and enable their voices and ideas to be heard.
7. We know that education is the key to a better future. Through education, lives can change.
8. We believe in the power of young people to effect positive and lasting social change. Young people can grow into responsible, contributing and self-reliant members of society.
9. We value diversity, promote mutual understanding and live with tolerance. We need to understand each other better and learn from our differences.
10. We strive for excellence and encouraging others to do the same. We will meet or exceed the expectations of those we serve.
