Educating Children, Teaching Values

School Programs

The majority of children at CCH attend public school during the days. CCH pays for children to attend school, have textbooks and proper attire. The public school system is very poor in Cambodia. So, the Center for Children’s Happiness has independent classes at the center. Children go to public school for half the day and study at CCH for half the day. The whole center revolves around education. The walls are full of education for the children (see the photo below). The children at CCH love to study. You can always find kids studying in the center. The kids ask all visitors to help them. There is only one television and children watch less than an hour a week.

Vocational Programs

CCH has aggressively been getting children involved in vocational training programs. As CCH children grow in age, it becomes increasingly important to ensure that they have a viable means to survive on their own, after CCH. Vocation programs include youth attendance at cooking school and hairdressing school. Children also learn sewing, construction and computers. Our hope is to help them be responsible young adults that contribute to Cambodian society and help those less fortunate. We hope these children will eventually be leaders at CCH. Our Youth House concept is exactly what we need to secure their future.

The Mobile Library

The Mobile Library is a program that allows CCH children to bring learning and joy to children that are still at the dump. CCH youth being educational activities and friendship to disadvantaged children. The mobile library perfoms frams for the children that warns them of the dangers of trafficking, drugs, and HIV/AIDS. The mobile library gives disadvantages children an opportunity to play, take part in art and origami, read books and learn about hygiene. The library also provides free food for hungry children. These CCH children serve as role models for poor children they meet. CCH teaches children to care about others and take action to make their lives better.

Traditional Dance

All children at CCH have the opportunity to study traditional Cambodian dance. CCH believes that it’s important to teach the children about their unique and beautiful culture. Many visitors to the center are often treated to performances characterized by grace, beauty and pride.

Young Angels

Many children at the Center for Children’s Happiness deliver food and supplies to poor people in their community. What a great way to raise these children. It doesn’t matter how much you have in life, everyone can serve others.
