Our Mission

Our mission is to make a lasting and positive change in the lives of vulnerable children and youth in Cambodia by strengthening existing organizations, while raising awareness and inspiring others at home.

Objectives in Cambodia:

We purse our mission by working with our grantee partners, towards meeting our key objectives. Our objectives are to support organizations in Cambodia to:
• Prevent the exploitation of children
• Improve the living conditions, health conditions and educational standards of children and youth
• Increase the number of poor and orphaned children who receive an education
• Create employment opportunities for the youth and end their cycle of poverty
• Help children take pride in themselves, restore their dignity and strengthen their self esteem
• Give children an opportunity to be part of a safe and loving home
• Teach children skills to live an independent life as a responsible young adult
• Encourage children to love and respect their own culture and customs
• Teach children to care about and serve others in their community

Objectives in Canada:

We work with school and teachers at home. Our objectives at home are to:
• Teach them about Cambodia and the culture
• Increase awareness of global poverty and child issues
• Better understand the benefits we have as Canadians
• Inspire children to take action to help the disadvantaged

Our Vision

Our vision is that a growing number of children and youth have access to basic human needs, an education and skills for brighter future. Canadians understand the issues of poverty and are inspired to take action.

Basic Human needs:

Physiological the need for food, water and shelter;
Safety/Security the need for structure, predictability, stability, and freedom from fear and anxiety;
Belongingness/Love the need to be accepted by others and to have strong personal ties with family, friends, and identity groups; and
Self-esteem the need to be recognized by oneself and others as strong, competent, and capable. It also includes the need to know that one has some effect on her/his environment.
